ICSA Annual Conference rounds off eShare’s summer events programme

After a busy season of events that took in a double-header in Ireland for the ICSA and Annual Global Funds conferences, the FundForum International in Berlin and the Thomson Reuters Company Secretary Series event, Forum for Unlisted Companies 2017, eShare is set to attend its final event for the summer, the ICSA Annual Conference.
This is an event put together for company secretaries and governance leaders. It comprises a mixture of talks, breakout sessions and workshops, all designed to stimulate fresh thinking and provide attendees with the essential tools and knowledge to navigate the changes affecting the industry.

Governance professionals under pressure

If eShare’s latest research is anything to go by, the ICSA Annual Conference – taking place on 4 and 5 July at London ExCel – has come at exactly the right time. The research revealed the extent of the pressure faced by governance professionals, with more than half of research respondents saying they face greater complexity in their work, and 61% an increase in their overall workload.

The study also revealed that 88% of respondents say that good governance is a key priority in their organisation, and that 79% believe that governance is well resourced in their organisation. However, when it came to how organisations should be penalised for bad governance, just 40% say that companies with bad governance should face extreme financial penalties.

It is clear that governance professionals feel they need assistance in doing their job, and part of the ICSA event’s remit is to suggest tools that can help. BoardPacks is undoubtedly one such tool.

Technology tools for smarter governance

An online board portal can have a significant impact on governance, allowing users to demonstrate transparency and compliance far more effectively. It also makes for much smoother and more efficient running and organisation of meetings, drastically reducing the volume of paper used and protecting the confidential discussions that take place during meetings.

We are looking forward to demonstrating this at the ICSA Annual Conference, and also to gain a greater understanding of some of the other issues faced by company secretaries and governance professionals in 2017.

On the conference agenda is a keynote speech on the UK government’s plans for corporate governance reform; the latest on the likely impacts of Brexit on business; insights into managing tension in the boardroom; and lots of discussion about the overall strengths and weaknesses of the current UK corporate governance model.

These are all areas in which BoardPacks can play a role in supporting governance professionals, so if you are attending on 4 or 5 July we would love to see you at the ICSA Annual Conference.

Please come and see us the stand, or if you can’t be there but would like to hear more about BoardPacks, do get in touch here.
