Fund Services Awards 2015

The winners of the Fund Services Awards 2015 were revealed at a dinner in London on 7th October 2015.

Now in their 3rd year, 50 entries across 12 categories were shortlisted for this year’s awards, which are designed to celebrate those companies that offer services and solutions to the fund management industry.

In assessing submissions, judges looked at evidence of a solution and satisfactory client outcome, key service differentiators, the use of technology and innovation brought to the task, levels of ongoing service and support to the client. An element of online voting was also included.

“The judges felt that eShare’s BoardPacks catered particularly well for the growing requirement to provide improved security and a transparent audit trail to board members. BoardPacks not only fulfills this need, but also demonstrates a strong, clear business benefit in doing so. According to the judges, BoardPacks deserves credit for providing a very sound solution to an under-appreciated part of the risk management and governance process, but one that is growing in importance.”

Build a better foundation for your housing association.

BoardPacks will be returning to the UK’s leading housing association conference and exhibition this September.

With the new government now in place, it’s a great opportunity to hear what changes are happening in the sector. Speakers will be discussing the main challenges the sector is facing and what can be done to solve the current housing crisis.

In light of the current pressures on social housing, improving governance is one of the top priorities for housing associations, particularly in the area of risk-management. Software that can support these governance activities is becoming a crucial part of the boardroom. As with other industries, the efficiency of technology is driving meeting participants to use tablets rather than print out paper.

BoardPacks software, chosen by the National Housing Federation, allows board members to access meeting documentation and risk data from their tablets, on and offline.

If you’re attending the event, you won’t be able to miss us as we’re at stand #71, right by the entrance. We’re the ones with the Lego giveaways and prize draw.

In the meantime, why not find out how we’re helping housing associations like Tai Ceredigion manage their governance.

Now, with collaborative annotation, you can share those annotations with other meeting participants, whilst retaining your own private notes for personal reference.

Contributions from your colleagues are labelled with their names and the whole of the public view is clearly indicated in red to prevent any unintentional sharing.

Furthermore, you can now view annotations from your computer in the webview.

Collaborative annotation has just been released for the iPad and will soon be available in our Windows app too.

April 2015

Over the past few years, growing numbers of UK boards of directors have started to move away from the inefficiency of paper board packs to embrace an online model that utilises tablet technology to help drive down cost and improve collaboration. But why is this approach limited to the top brass? Agenda led meetings occur at every level of the organisation – and the need for immediate decision making and action can be equally as pressing at operational level than for strategic directors.

Alister Esam discusses an outdated meeting model and how progressive organisations are making efficiency savings and improvements by updating it. Read more

Tai Ceredigion has been shortlisted for the ‘Most innovative IT system’ at the Housing Innovation Awards for their use of BoardPacks to improve board meetings. BoardPacks not only helps reduce costs and the administration burden associated with paper meeting packs, but also improves governance by making it much easier to extract information.

Tai Ceredigion is a not-for-profit housing association responsible for over 2,000 properties in West Wales. Its main aim is to ensure that homes are up to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard and that tenants receive high quality services. The company’s vision is to put tenants first, provide quality homes and benefit communities and the local economy.

Why do boards differ around the world and across sectors? Despite having the same objectives and aims, cultural differences play out. The UK has a very open attitude to governance, the US is very open and very technology focused. All have to demonstrate a greater accountability. This is really where BoardPacks fits in [read more].

As Android tablet usage is increasing around the world, many board members want the choice of adopting an operating system that suits them.

Mercer is a global leader in talent, health, retirement, and investments. In response to growing demand from pension scheme trustees to move to paperless trustee board and committee meetings, Mercer have adopted BoardPacks, leading governance software from eShare.

Clare Owen, Head of Mercer’s Governance group, said: “A constant stream of new regulation and an increasing amount of ‘business as usual’ tasks means trustees’ workloads remain high.

“Technology, tailored to fit the specific scheme, and coupled with good governance practices, can help reduce the preparation time for trustees and committees allowing them to focus on the more critical decisions. It can also improve data security, allow real-time access to scheme documents and other materials during and outside meetings, support trustee training, as well as increase the efficiency and timeliness of post and intra-meeting activity.”
